This was written the night I went to Hiroshima so I typed it up exactly how I wrote it. That's also why the date is different for this blog.
Hostels. Wow.
But before I go into that I'll talk about day 1 of my 3 day adventure. I went to Hiroshima. I thought our first stop was going to be Kyoto but I guess it makes sense to go to the furthest place then head on back. I was also expecting a lot more Rotary members to be going and I could have sworn that Otoo-san was coming along as well. Nope. Only 4 people are on this "Rotary" trip. Me, Pat, Pedro (the boy from Brazil), and some Rotary guy in change of him. That's it. So, here I am. We took a train, me and Pat, from Hitachi to Mito where we met up with the other two. Then we rode that until we got to Tokyo then we switched trains. So, today was the first day I've ever taken a Shinkansen. The Shinkansen is the fastest kind of train there is in Japan. I love the trains^^ Makes me feel more like a traveler. But damn, 5 hours on that train. That's how freaking far away Hiroshima is.
When we got there I was already freaking out. A~chan, Kashiyuka, and Nocchi were born here! Pedro had no idea who Perfume was. I had to educate him. But our "tour guide" (so I'm calling him) had no idea what he was doing. Actually, he even forgot his bag on the one electric train car (we had to carry our luggage around which sucked). There's tons of them here. But, who else is with me in this? Isn't it STUPID to not go to the hotel first? Ya know, to drop your HEAVY luggage off? Well, we didn't do that. And I was reading my scheduel and on the next day we still aren't going to the hotel first. So, in Kyoto I'll be carrying my HUGE, HEAVY, bag with me. My arms were killing me. And now I have all these black and blue marks on my leg. There's wheels on my bag and they kept hitting me. And they HURT. The first place we stopped at was the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Meseum. I also saw the Atomic Bomb Dome before that.
The museum though was sad. They had an ear piece for all foreigners in the language of their choice so we were able to understand everything. Of course I got one. The stories about some of the victims though... that was the worst. I can't believe all that really happened and the effects of what the radiation did to their bodies. There was a person's tongue and skin, and hair there. And I didn't get to see it (I forgot to look) but there was a picture of a boy's hand where some fingers were chopped off a little and the nail continued to grow. Then the pictures of the people's skin. It was terrible. I didn't feel too good at the end of it. But that was sad. Everyone should see this place. Have a look at that reality. I can't believe that America even went to such extremes as to make that. I can't understand why they couldn't do something else. After that place we were off to Miyajima. At this place there's one of those red shrine entrance poles in the water (it's famous). We had to take a ferry to get there. It was dark out at this timeso all my pictures suck. Pat's going to send me her's. There were deer EVERYWHERE here! They were sooo cute!! I was petting them. Me and Pat ended up holding Pedro and the other guy up because we wouldn' leave them haha. They were wayyyy too cute. I want a dear >_<
There was a shrine thing there too and it reminded me of the 2nd Inuyasha movie. Yeah, it was red too. But it had a long walk way and that's why it reminded me of that. While there I bought a charm. They had a whole bunch for different reasons. Like, there was "Safe Driving", "Good Pregnancy", but I bought the "Find your partner" charm. haha. It's hanging off my keitai now. We headed back after that and went to a famous okonomiyaki restaraunt. That was the best okonomiyaki I've ever had. We had Hiroshima okonomiyaki, Hiroshima is supposely famouse for that food. Then we came to this hostel. I thought we were going to a hotel. But nooo. I don't hate it as much as I did when I arrived. We're here 'cause it's cheap. But I LOVE hotels. It's just something about them that makes me happy. It smells in the hallway though and the bathroom just doesn't seem that "clean". But it has 2 western toilets! That's the plus^^ We didn't even know how to get to the place. I'm telling you, that guy was terrible at dragging us to places only for it to be wrong. We stood outside someone's house waiting because he thought that was the hostel.
So, tomorrow Kyoto awaits. It's going to be troublesome carrying my bag around. But now I came. I walked the same streets that A~chan, Kashiyuka, and Nocchi have. And I've seen the Peace Memorial Museum, and I've met many deer. Actually, I think I want to live in Hiroshima. I've loved the little I've done. This is also the place where I've seen the most foreigners. Strange, maybe. But for some reason while at the museum I was getting mad at seeing all the foreigners. Here I was, a foreigner as well, getting mad because foreigners were there. Why? I don't even know, to tell you the truth. I know, it's stupid of me too, but I just did. Well, I'm heading off for sleep. Oyasumi. Kyoto here I come^^
I don't know when the Kyoto one will be up yet but I'm trying to get my Hiroshima pictures up before that.
